Our Mission:

“To move young people to strive for God conciousness, social justice and to convey Islam with utmost clarity”

MAS is the Muslim American Society, and we are the youth of the Colorado chapter of
MAS.  We are a registered nonprofit organization, dedicated to instilling positive morals,
self-confidence, knowledge of the moderate Islamic path, and empowering young
Muslims to contribute to society & live their best every day
. Our department is run
completely by young adults, (training our current and future community leaders), and
is FOR young adults, ages 12 and up.

History: Founded in 1998, with the help and grace of God, the Most High, MY
Colorado (originally the Colorado Muslim Youth Foundation), the elders of the
community realized a void in the Denver area: there was no outlet for young adults to
learn Islam and socialize with their peers in a halaal environment.  Sunday school isn’t
enough for kids in middle & high school – they need something more.  And this is
where MAS Youth came in.

Why MAS??? MAS is a one-of-a-kind grassroots organization that is pioneering work
in the field of activism and da’wah. They provide a solid method of developing the self
(first and foremost), then the family, and then the community–all based on the Qur’an
and Sunnah–and starting with the leaders.  It is organized, professional, and efficient,
so that Muslims don’t just do the work, but they do it with IHSAN* (excellence).
MAS Youth is also about creating a national network of chapters, through which we
are constantly improving our methods, curriculum and planning through conferences
and other communication. The point is to UNITE and to consistently IMPROVE,
rather than trying to “reinvent the wheel” with every new halaqa, class or organization
we start.  THAT is why we chose to become a MAS Chapter! : )

Our Approach: MYCO hosts numerous activities and events to help spread Islamic
teachings and values, as well as foster a strong Islamic identity in our American youth.
We believe that in order to grow and develop a solid, confident identity, our young
Muslim adults need a comprehensive approach to Tarbiya (foundational
development & training) that includes spirituality, activism, knowledge & social
activity
. It’s about giving the youth the knowledge, confidence, and support they need
to navigate their way through life, because it’s not easy.  MAS Youth provides a open
environment where they can learn, discuss, and ask questions without fear, and learn
to be better Muslims. (We do not promote any particular school of thought or minhaj)

Activities: Youth enjoy weekly brothers and sisters halaqas, Tarbiya & ‘Ilm camps,
picnics, MYathlon sports, community volunteering (MY Give), Youth Interfaith, and
inspirational events (MY Revive). See Calendar of Events.

This Website: Muslim youth today are growing up ONLINE, like it or not.  So we
designed this site with the youth in mind, to let the community know about our
activities, and also provide a fun alternative to some of the harmful things to which we
are often exposed.  There’s Muslim art, sacred knowledge, pics & even a discussion
forum coming soon, God-willing! All designed to inspire, educate, and connect people
in the community.
Please contact us if you have any comments or suggestions. :c)
